Summer Treats: Melon Nutrients (Honeydew Melon, Cantaloupe)

Yes, everyone knows about watermelon & cantaloupe – but have you ever had a honeydew melon?  I hadn’t …until I moved to North Dakota. My friend served it, cut up with some cantaloupe — and wow, was I surprised!

It really “ticked my tastebuds”.  In case you’ve not tried Honeydew melon (or even if you have), here’s the list of helpful nutrients contained :

  • B6 (7 Percent of your Daily Allowance)
  • Vitamin C (22 Percent of your Daily Allowance)
  • Vitamin K (3 Percent of your Daily Allowance)

 

Now, let’s consider Cantaloupe ..

Okay canteloupe has 23 calories per serving (in a medium slice) and 0.6 grams of fiber.  And hey, did you SUSPECT that this orange-colored melon would have some protein?!
