Yoga Health: Practicing Prenatal Exercises

Over the years, multiple studies have shown that exercise can alleviate anxiety and depression.  It has not always been clear which type of exercise produces the most benefit.  Practicing yoga may be something to consider.

Recently, a study completed at the Boston University School of Medicine compared the impact of walking vs. yoga on anxiety and depression.  The results suggested that the practice of yoga improved mood more effectively than walking.

In this study, the first group practiced yoga for 60 minutes three times weekly for 12 weeks, while the second group of participants did a metabolically similar walking program for the same period of time.
